Lab procedure, student response form, and answer key

Using molecular models, three procedures, which may be run as separate labs, are performed by students using this kit. In the first exercise, students model, write molecular and structural formulas, and name some alkanes, alkenes, and alkynes. The second lab deals with modeling, writing molecular and structural formulas, and naming halogenated compounds, alcohols, aldehydes, ketones, and carboxylic acids.

In the last procedure, students make five esters, using common acids and alcohols.*
